TEDx is a TED-affiliated program that is self-organized to bring people together to share a TED-like experience. Our event is called TEDxSheungWan, where x means this is an independently organized TED event. TEDTalks video and live speakers will be at our event to spark deep discussion and connection in a group setting. While the TED Conference provides general guidance for our TEDx program, this is a self-organized event.
TEDxSheungWan is formed by a group of individuals committing to make our community a better place. We are excited to bring Countdown to Hong Kong. If we are to curb large enough amounts of greenhouse gas emissions, collaboration across various communities is needed. Innovation in all industries will be required to protect the health and stability of our future and future generations to come. Every person counts: you can make a difference.
Countdown is a global initiative by TED to champion and accelerate solutions to the climate crisis, turning ideas into action. The goal is to build a better future by cutting greenhouse gas emissions in half by 2030 in the race to a zero-carbon world – a world that is safer, cleaner and fairer for everyone.
We are bringing together scientists, activists, entrepreneurs, urban planners, farmers, CEOs, investors, artists, government officials, and others to find the most effective, evidence-based ideas out there. Our goal is to identify the bold solutions that can be activated when people break out of their silos and rise to the challenge.
